Recent traffic stops lead to seizure of drugs and money


The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than $53,000 in cash Sunday, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

At approximately 3:22 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2009 BMW 328I traveling west on I-40 near Conway, for a traffic violation. The Trooper then discovered rubber-banded bundles of cash inside a shoe box in the trunk.

The driver – Juan Flores, of Perris, California – and passenger – Angelica Manriquez, of San Bernardino, California – were arrested and charged with money laundering. Flores, 43, and Manriquez, 33, were transported and booked into the Carson County jail.

The cash was allegedly being transported from Oklahoma City to Perris, California.

On Monday, the DPS seized 108 pounds of marijuana Monday, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

At approximately 4:37 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2011 Mercedes-Benz S550 traveling east on I-40 near Conway, for a traffic violation. The Trooper then discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in the trunk.

The driver – Dylan Girrens – and passenger – Antonio Ramirez, both of Parrish, Florida – were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Girrens, 17, and Ramirez, 21, were transported and booked into the Carson County jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from California, to Florida.

This past Sunday, the DPS seized over 70 pounds of marijuana Sunday, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Dallam County.

At approximately 3:12 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2004 Ford F-350 traveling southeast on US-87 near Dalhart, for a traffic violation. The Trooper then discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana inside in the tool boxes in the truck bed.

The driver – James Montgomery, 50, of Houston – was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Montgomery was transported and booked into the Dallam County jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Colorado to Houston.

The DPS seized 114 pounds of marijuana Friday, February 23, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

At approximately 12:12 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2004 Honda Pilot traveling east on I-40 near Conway, for a traffic violation. A DPS canine arrived and alerted on the vehicle. The Trooper then discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana inside duffle bags in the vehicle and in the luggage bin mounted on top of the vehicle.

The driver – Arnulfo Razo-Gaona, 38, of Redwood Valley, California – was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Razo-Gaona was transported and booked into the Carson County jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Redwood Valley, California, to Tupelo, Mississippi.
