Police investigating armed robbery at Papa John's location

Saturday evening, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the Papa John's located at 10th and Georgia Street on a armed robbery call.

A white male, who was described as being about 5’6’’ tall with a thin build wearing a black baseball cap and dark colored jacket, entered the store and did not order.

When the employee went to the back of the store the suspect went around the counter and attempted to open the register.  The employee came back to the front of the store and found the male behind the counter.

The suspect asked the employee for a piece of paper and when she turned around he stuck what the employee believed was a knife to her back. The man demanded that she open the register.

Investigators say the suspect left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. The employee was uninjured in the incident.

It is unknown if the suspect left the scene on foot or in a vehicle. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Amarillo Police Department or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400. Tips can also be made anonymously online at www.amapolice.org.
