Amarillo police investigating Sunday afternoon armed robberies


The Amarillo Police Department is investigating two Sunday afternoon armed robberies. Investigators believe both robberies may have been committed by the same person.

Around 4:00 pm, officers were dispatched to the Boost Mobile at 3101 South Western Street on an armed robbery. The victim told officers that a male suspect wearing a light grey hooded sweatshirt, black skinny jeans, a black ball cap and sunglasses, entered the store and pointed a gun at the clerk.

The suspect demanded money and then fled the scene.

There were no injuries reported from this incident. The males suspect was described as light skinned, with a small build.

About 30 minutes later, a call came in from the Metro PCS at 1407 North Grand Street advising that a robbery had just occurred at this location. The suspect description given was the same as the previous robbery.

The suspect entered the store, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money from the register.

No injuries were reported from this incident. The victim described the male suspect as being about 5’7’’ tall, with a thin build.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from each location. No arrests have been made at this time.
