Man arrested for throwing rocks at cars on I-40: One woman injured

Monday night, the Amarillo Emergency Communications Center received several 911 calls of a subject throwing rocks at vehicles.

Amarillo police officers were told that the suspect was in the area of I-40 and Bolton. The suspect was located in the westbound grass median at that location.

As officers arrived, the suspect Matthew Christopher Meyers, 39, threw a rock and a beer bottle at a police unit. Officers contacted Meyers, who was still holding rocks in his hands and refusing to comply with officer’s commands to drop them.

A Taser was used to take Meyers into custody.

There were multiple victims with damage to their vehicles. One female was transported to a local hospital with injuries to her eyes from glass fragments.

Meyers was booked into Potter County on five counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
