Men arrested for attempted burglary and shooting: Two suspects still on the run

Late Wednesday morning, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of North Manhattan Street on a shots fired call. The victim, a 41 year old male, told officers that he had just been shot at.

The victim said that he arrived at his house in the 2700 block of Northeast 20th Avenue and saw at least three males attempting to break into his back door.

One suspect ran east on NE 20th and then south on Manhattan Street. The other suspects ran west on NE 20th Avenue.

As the victim chased the single suspect in an attempt to apprehend him, the suspect fired a gun at least two times at the victim while running away. The victim was not injured.

APD SWAT and patrol officers were able to track two of the suspects to an apartment complex in the 1400 block of North Jefferson Street. Hjarien Leraun Moore, 34, and Michael Denzel Barnes, 29, were detained.

Detectives determined that Moore and Barnes were both connected to the attempted burglary and shooting. Barnes and Moore were arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.

Investigators are still looking to identify two other suspects in this case. The two suspects can be seen on the included video. They are both black males wearing dark clothing. One is wearing a mask over his head and face and the other has a hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Amarillo Police Department or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.
