Amarillo Vintage Truck Club hosting 2018 Diamond T Jubilee on Saturday

On Saturday, August 4, 2018, the eyes of the classic car and truck community will be on Amarillo, as the Texas Panhandle welcomes the world to the 2018 Diamond T Jubilee show.

The Diamond T Jubilee is the first show of its kind in Amarillo. Presented by the Amarillo Vintage Truck Club, Diamond T Rubber Company and the Historical Vintage Truck Association, the show will feature classic cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles and more.

The namesake of the show honors the legendary Diamond T Motor Car Company. Founded in 1905 by C.A. Tilt, the Diamond T Company was the premiere manufacturer of trucks in the United States for the first half of the 20th Century. The company produced many lines of advanced cars and trucks and was a leading developer in the manufacturing of military vehicles during World War II.

Diamond T later merged with the Reo Motor Company, becoming Diamond Reo Trucks, Inc.

On what would be 113th anniversary of the establishment of the Chicago-based company, the Amarillo Vintage Truck Club will welcome Diamond T and Diamond Reo trucks from across the United States at this historic show.

The show will not be exclusive to Diamond T vehicles; local and national collectors from across the nation will display their finest Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge vehicles, among others.

In addition to the historic nature of this local show, the Diamond T Jubilee will also mark a special day for the Historical Vintage Truck Association. With chapters across the nation, this show will mark the first time the HVTA has ever held a national show in Amarillo.

Other locations that have played host to this national show have included Greeley, Colorado, Walcott, Iowa and Phoenix, Arizona. Following the conclusion of the show, many of the organization’s attendees are expected to visit historic Route 66 and participate in the Amarillo Corvette Club’s Polk Street Cruise in downtown Amarillo.

“We are looking forward to hosting some of our favorite namesake trucks,” Amarillo Vintage Truck Club chapter president Sonny King says. “We are grateful that our national members and friends are making this trip to Amarillo and we can’t wait to share our collections and passion with the Amarillo community.”

The cost of entry per vehicle is $25. All vehicles entered will be in contention for various awards to be given out at the show, including for People’s Choice and Best of Show. A raffle and several small contests will also be held, with proceeds going to benefit historic preservation charities in Amarillo. The show will run from 9am through 4pm on Saturday, August 4th, in the Sears parking lot of Westgate Mall.

For information on entries, or for any other inquiries, please call chapter president Sonny King at (806) 335-0315 or email
