APD investigating multiple Wednesday morning shootings: One person sent to hospital


The Amarillo Police Department is currently investigating three separate shooting incidents on Wednesday.

Around 8:40 am, officers were sent to the 3100 block of SW 5th on a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found 12 shell casings. No injuries were reported at this location.

Two hours later, Amarillo police officers were sent back to the location on another call of shots fired. Officers found over 40 shell casings this time.

Investigators said found four buildings and four vehicles were struck by bullets. No injuries were reported during the second shooting.

Shortly after 11 am, officers responded to a shooting in the 2500 block of Poplar street at 11:02. Investigators said two suspects shot a 26-year-old in the upper body. The gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital with what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have not been able to connect the shootings at this time.
