Potter County Sheriff’s Office to conduct active shooter training with River Road ISD

The Potter County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting an active shooter training for all teachers of the River Road ISD. Teachers will be informed on what to do and possibly prevent an active shooter situation.

Trainers will simulate an active shooter coming into the school so that teachers understand what this looks like and actually practice locking in place. There will be some blank rounds shot to simulate the gun fire so they will understand what that sounds like.

Deputies and firefighters will demonstrate how they respond to such an active shooter situation.

Officials said this training is important so that law enforcement and teachers are prepared should an actual active shooter enter a school building.

The training will take place at River Road High School on August 10, 2018.
