Buffs and Lady Buffs remained ranked in the top 10

West Texas A&M men's basketball team is ranked eighth for the second consecutive week in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top-25 released on Tuesday afternoon. The Buffs (8-1) went 2-0 this past weekend at the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic with wins over Colorado State-Pueblo and Central Oklahoma as Ryan Quaid become the program's all-time leader in rebounds.

The top five remained the same with Bellarmine picking up all 16 first-place votes followed by Northwest Missouri State, Indiana (Pa.), Saint Anslem and Southern Nazarene. Valdosta State moved up to sixth switching places with Cal Poly Pomona followed by WT in eighth with Findlay and West Liberty rounding out the Top-10. The Buffs are the only team from the South Central Region ranked in the Top-25 with Tarleton, Colorado Mesa, St. Edward's and Angelo State receiving votes.

The Buffs open Lone Star Conference play on Thursday, Nov. 29, when they host Cameron at the First United Bank Center. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Buffs jumped two spots to fifth in the newest edition of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top-25 announced on Tuesday afternoon by the association's offices in Lilburn, Georgia.

Ashland picked up 23 of the possible 24 first-place votes to jump to the top spot with 599 points followed by Union (562), Indiana, Pa. (531), Alaska-Anchorage (509), West Texas A&M (497), Bentley (459), Central Missouri (one first place, 451), Drury (445), Virginia Union (381) and Fort Hays State (379) to round out the top ten. The South Central Region was represented by WT (5th), Lubbock Christian (18th), St. Mary's (RV), Angelo State (RV) and Tarleton (RV).

WT (6-0) begins the defense of their Lone Star Conference Championship on Thursday night as they continue their homestand against the Cameron Aggies with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
