Meth discovered in tires during I-40 traffic stop

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than 47 pounds of methamphetamine Tuesday, October 23, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.

At approximately 8:03 a.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling east on I-40 near Conway for a traffic violation. The Trooper then discovered plastic-wrapped packages of methamphetamine concealed inside all four tires.

The driver – Nahely Pantelakis, 36, of Nogales, Arizona – was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Pantelakis was transported and booked into the Carson County Jail. DPS Special Agents and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents were contacted to assist with the case.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Phoenix, Arizona to Oklahoma City.
