WT's Lexy Hightower earns LSC Offensive Player of the Week honors

West Texas A&M junior guard Lexy Hightower has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week announced on Monday afternoon by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.

Hightower had a big weekend for the No. 5 Lady Buffs as they opened up Lone Star Conference action with a pair of home victories over Cameron and MSU Texas to improve to 8-0 overall on the season. The Amarillo High product went 14-of-32 (43.8 percent) from the floor including 8-of-18 (44.4) from behind the arc and 11-of-14 (78.6) from the charity stripe to average 23.5 points per contest while grabbing 11 rebounds (three offensive, eight defensive) to go along with two assists and three steals in the pair of wins.

The WBCA All-American scored a career-high 29 points on Saturday afternoon against the rival Mustangs as she went 8-of-17 from the floor, 5-of-10 from deep and 8-of-10 from the free throw line to go along with four rebounds and two assists in the victory.

The Lady Buffs finish their five-game homestand on Thursday night as they host the Drovers of the University of Science & Arts in exhibition action at the First United Bank Center with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Canyon.
